Mothers Day Cards....

Hello! Im going to post a couple cards in this post. First one is my entry for the Paper Makeup Stamps Challenge. For this challenge we were to follow a sketch. I had already had my Tilda image (thank you again Jacilynn!) colored because I was practicing using my Bic Markers. So I chose to use burgundy colors to go with the flow of her shirt.

My second card Im submitting for 3 challenges! Yup, 3! I love doing challenges but just dont have enough time to do every single one of them so combining is the easiest way for me to do so. Im sure a lot of you can relate to this. The first challenge is for Mojo Monday...following a sketch. I rarely get to play along in this, but I liked this sketch so much, I just had to. The second challenge is for Just Magnolia. Thank you to Jacilynn for supplying me with all my Magnolia images, I can finally participate in this challenge as well. We were to use the color combo of pink and green. By far, not my favorite color combos but it came together rather well. I used my Bic Markers to color this image. I do believe that Im getting the hang of using these markers and the colors make them pop so much more than my colored pencils! Now, for the last challenge... Over at Corrosive Card, the theme is Mothers Day. Easy enough... I just added a Happy Mothers Day Stamp in the corner.
Hope y'all like my cards!

Plaids are stripes....right?

I made this card for a friend of mine and my mothers. She recently had a new addition to her family... a new grandbaby boy! He is so stinkin' cute. I received this Riley from a Callie and I just love 'em! I actually had done this card before I saw the challenge over at Papertake Weekly. As long as plaid are considered stripes...maybe its just in my world...Im gonna use this for this weeks entry over there. There is sooo many entries over there...my chances of actually winning are slim to none. Dont know unless you try tho! I used Bic Markers to color this lil critter and colored pencils to do the highlighting.

Hey! Whats up???

You know whats up??? I finally broke down and got myself a set of Bic Markers. I cant afford the Copics so I decided to see what all the hype was about with the Bics. A tad bit frustrating at first... but what doesnt frustrate me these days? This is my first image colored using the markers. Of course the lovely Jacilynn RAKed me this image and the ribbon was a bit that I actually won from her blog candy! I used the sketch over on Sketch Saturday to put this card together. I dont really dig on pinks or girlie colors for that matter but the paper matched the coloring fairly well, dontcha think? I also want to give a shout out to Shannon for RAKin' me some awesome vellum! Its the circle of flowers behind Tilda. Isnt it purty?!!!

Im about ready to throw it out the window....okay deep breath....I had to take this photo with my phone so its a little on the dark side. The card is almost how I envisioned it.....

Thinking of You on Earth Day

Hello! Yesterday was Earth Day and I made a quick little card to honor the day. I started off using a piece of thin cardboard cardstock, more like chipboard. I then layered a piece of white handmade paper that I made with pieces of paper I had thrown into my recycle bin and some help from Bill Nye the Science Guy paper making machine. The vase is made from a crumpled piece of brown bag and distressed with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink. I used hemp twine for the bow, some dried flowers that i trimmed off of one of my plants and embellished with some buttons I had laying around. Ive entered this in The Simon Says Challenge.

Cherry Blossoms

Just wanted to post my entry for the Digishack challenge before Im too late! EEK!

A Swingin' Birthday

I procrastinated about a card that I should have done already. So last night I looked around all the different challenges that would best suit yet another image given to me by my dearest blog buddy Jacilynn. I saw this super cool sketch over at cupcake craft challenge and knew it would be just perfect. This is my first time participating with this challenge, now Im a follower so Im sure there will be many more to come. I tried to keep this card as simple as possible because I needed to mail it today. I have her sitting on a strip of cardstock and tied hemp twine to it to make it look like a swing. A couple of different layers some embellishments, a sentiment and a few hours later this is my final result.

Our Creative Corner Challenge

This is my entry for the challenge at Our Creative Corner. This weeks challenge was to use something recycled. The middle blue paper is handmade paper that I made with a little help from Bill Nye the Science Guy. I picked up his little paper making machine at Walmart for $5 and spent at least 2 weeks making paper. I finally got a chance to attach one to a card! I received this cute little image from Jacilynn. He just looked so sad and lonely and 'blue'. So that was my theme. I colored him with my Crayola colored pencils, distressed all edges with Tim Holtz distressed ink - weathered wood and added four brads as my embellishments.

just a card...

...here is another image I received from Jacilynn. I decided to put a background on this one. There was just so much white space to work with. I dont know if you can see it very well, but on the tree it has engraved ' u + me ' with a ♥. I used a hemp twine to frame the picture and embellished it with prima flowers and brads. Simple yet one of my favorites to date.

Texas Bluebonnets and a windmill...

I was asked to do a birthday card for a lady whom is turning 100. Wow! What a milestone! I had to ask for a little info about her so I wouldnt get it wrong. She grew up in the country surrounded by family. That is about all the info I got. So knowing that she grew up in Texas, I decided on handpainted bluebonnets. Who in Texas doesnt like bluebonnets???

to keep or not to keep...

that is the question.... I made this card yesterday and Im not particular thrilled with it. Part of me likes it and the other part hates it. I spent 3+ hours working on the image itself, handwrote my own sentiment and rolled the little balls of grapes and sponged the main cardstock. Im not sure if Im happy with the image or the size of the card or the writing or just the whole darn thing. opinions?

Butt Kickin' Butterfly!

Sheesh, literally this little bugger kicked my butt! I woke up yesterday morning thinking of a very special friend of mine whom has told me on numerous occasions that she is not happy with the way she looks on the outside, but is satisfied with what is on the inside. Which made me put the quote on the front of the card "Its whats on the inside that counts" She is so completely beautiful both inside and out that it just amazes me that I havent seen her on the cover of a magazine! I would buy every issue!!! Now dont get me wrong by the way the front of the cards looks, because she is Gor-Geous! She holds a very special place in my heart and I am proud to call her my friend! I just wish she wasnt so far away! Good friends are hard to find!! Love you! MUAH!

Now on to the frustrations of this little bug... I did this completely freehand! The lettering took me about 10 times to do until I found the perfect style, on the inside I did an overlay with the black cardstock. That there alone was a toughy. I did that 3 times. I dont know if Im completely satisfied with it but it did turn out alright I s'pose. There is just so many flaws to it, but the magic of stickles saved the day. I actually think the flaws give it some personality. Everyone has some kind of flaw right?
