Welcome to the Funny Farm!!!!

I went to Michaels the other day to pick up some paper for a project I was working on. Well... you just cant go to Michaels without browsing thru the $1 bins. I found these super cute farm animal stamps. I just couldnt go home without them! I wanted to create something a wee bit different than your basic card so I used the barn stamp for a little inspiration and decided to make the barn the card. I did not use a template for any of it but it did take me all morning and early afternoon to complete it. I made the pig, horse and cow have dimensional heads and shredded some brown paper to make the hay. Used my brown gel pen to add some detail for nails and Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tea Dye to give the barn a bit of a worn look. The doors stay shut with a thicker piece of cardstock attached with a brad so that it swings up to open. Once you open the barn doors there is a thought bubble coming from the sheep that says...'to ewe' and the cow has a thought bubble that says... 'to moooo'. This card took quite a bit of time and patience. My 2 girls were so anxious to see what I was going to do with the animals and they wanted to help so bad. Too many tiny details for tiny little fingers to be messing around with. I must say...this card turned out way better than I had envisioned it. I hope the recipient likes it!!!

House of Mouse Challenge #29

Here is my entry for this weeks House of Mouse challenge. It took me a bit of time with some of the elements I put on it. I saw some weave and stitched paper on one of Jacilynns cards that I just loved. I had to try it! I did and it turned out horrible. Lets face it...me and a sewing machine are not a perfect match! I ended up having to do the whole weave over. I had made a few extra of those paper roses that I followed the tutorial on Marias blog, I thought they might look kind of cute on this card. While my critters were eating their Honey Bunches of Oats I drew and colored the background to give it more of a baby room feel. I added a few touches of Tim Holtz Distressed Ink - weathered wood around the edges, and some Star Dust Stickles to the rose petals.

Over at Cute Card Thursday they are having a birthday. Happy Birthday Cute Card! Their challenge this week is to follow a sketch using a celebration theme. They are also giving away gobs of goodies this week sponsored by Whiff of Joy, Whimsy Stamps, Alota Stamps, Pink Gem and Emma from Something Sweet. So if you havent entered yet, you should! You have 5 chances to win and you have until the 18th to enter. Here is my entry for the challenge. I used three different colors of a textured cardstock along with a polka doty pattern. I used an image of dress up Lily that I received from my friend Dee and colored her with my colored pencils. I distressed most of the edges on the card with Tim Holtz weathered wood. I then finished off my card with some Prima flowers, some brads and did a bit of doodling on the bottom corners.

just a few...

Ive made just a few cards the past couple of days. My Mother in law came to visit so I wasnt able to be as crafty as I wanted. I did, however, go to Michaels to use the $25 gift card my sister gave me for my birthday. I was a little bummed that the whole stamping aisle was empty due to new stock that was sitting in their warehouse patiently waiting to be displayed. I myself was not that patient! I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket! My MIL dropped me off and took my girls to a different store so that I could shop by my lonesome. Honestly they really didnt have much to chose from. I did pick up 4 pads of some super cool handmade paper by Provo Craft that was on clearance. Here are a few cards I created with that paper. The cards with the triangle pieces was from a sketch on Friday Sketchers that my addicted to bellas group chose to use for a challenge. The green card I made a bit different, I wanted it to open different from the others. I still have yet to add the right sentiment in that one. I really enjoy using these papers!

I also wanted to share this sunflower card I made. I cut out each petal and added some paint dots to the center of the card.

Copic Blog Candy! Copic Blog Candy!

OMG! Who doesnt love Copics??? I personally dont own any, do all my coloring with my Crayola colored pencils. Ive seen the works that other card makers do using copics and boy o' boy, I just love the way it looks! You have got to hop on over to see this candy at Crafty Goings On... They are giving away a box of 72 copics!!! Woo Hoo!

Dog Gone Card #2....

Just posting this one real quick while my critters are eating lunch. I really like the outcome of this one. I drew the background myself but I couldnt figure out how to place it all on the card. I came up with the porthole idea from brainstorming boat ideas. I used a brown card stock and painted it silver. I used pop dots to raise the inner circle and then topped it off with some nuts from my husbands tool box. I hope he didnt need them for anything! I then gave some shimmer to the water and the fishy with Star Dust Stickles. Next... the wizard card is in my future....

A whirlwind of Chaos!

Whew! Im finally getting a chance to post a little somethin' somethin'! With 3 lil ones I get sidetracked so easy. With that and my computer not wanting to cooperate, everything has been testing my patience!
Well... Lets see...Last week I entered a blog candy give away over on Jacilynns Blog. The first one ever I entered and boy she was giving away some uber cool stuff. Believe it or not... I actually won the goodies! YAY ME! I received my goodies in the mail on Saturday and I made a card using the very cute doggie stamp from Dog Gone Stamps. It was perfect timing for the unfortunate loss of my uncles little baby. He had to put her down due to her age and health problems she was experiencing. On a brighter note,Chica lived a very fun and wonderful life. She was very well loved and taken care of. May you rest in peace sweet Chica. Ok, ok... shakin off the tears that were forming! Here is the card I made. Hopefully my uncle wont read this blog entry until after he recieves the card!

So... what do you think? I drew the legs so that the little doggie would have something to lean on. I also made the sketch myself following the template from our blogging dashboard. I used my trusty Crayola colored pencils and inked the edges and the flooring with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tea Dye. My goal for today is to make cards using the rest of the images I received from Jacilynn. Ive already got the wizard and pig colored, sketched my own sketches and just need to find the time! Thank you again Jacilynn for the awesome candy!!!! MUAH!!
